Intota: Working with your Search Results

    • Product: Intota

What can I do with my search results after querying the Intota search box?

Typically you have queried the Intota search box either to add an eResource to your Intota profile, or to search for a contact or subscription license that your library has added to its Intota profile.

Your search results screen will provide different functionality based on what you were searching for, and details are provided below. For any database, provider, eBook/eJournal search, however, you will find these common, helpful aspects:

    • The circular gear icon below a resource name, indicating the resource is currently being tracked in your Intota profile.

      • In the above results for a database search, below the database name you also see the Database Code created by ProQuest. This can be helpful, for example, when you are acting on a knowledgebase notification and you want to confirm you are updating the correct resource.

    • The left-side facets you can use to filter results. Limiting the Source facet to Knowledge Base will provide only those resources currently not in your Intota profile, limiting to My Intota will provide only those resources currently in your profile.

The rest of this document describes unique functionality you will find based on what you have searched for:

Search Results Screen for a Database Query

Typically you have searched for a database in order to add it to your Intota profile. If you know you have found the correct database, you can quickly add it to your profile by marking the checkbox next to the database name, and using the Status drop-down menu to change the status to Subscribed or another status.

If you are not certain you have found the correct database, you can view additional information about a database by clicking on the database name or the Database link on the right side of the screen:

    • Selecting the database name takes you to the Database Details page where you can view information such as the database URL and titles, and to add the resource to your profile you can click the Start Tracking button on the right side to change the status of the resource.

    • Selecting the right side Database link opens up a preview pane on the right side which also provides an overview of the database. Add the database to your profile by clicking the Change Status link on the top right side of the screen.

Once a database is added, it can take up to a day for the database to be available for patrons in your E-Journal Portal and other discovery services.

If your library has full-text access to all of the resources in the newly added database, then you are done adding that database to your profile. However, if you do not have full-text access to all resources in that database, you will need to select those full-text resources using this documentation about including select titles.

    • If you skip this important step, your patrons will receive false information: Resources will be displayed as full text, and when they select the resources on the Search Results page, they will be denied full-text access.

Search Results Screen for a Provider Query

After you have searched for a provider:

    • Selecting the provider name takes you to the Provider Details page where you can access information about the content provider and complete tasks related to the provider.

    • Selecting the right side Provider link opens up a preview pane on the right side (see above). The preview pane can be particularly helpful if you are uncertain whether you are looking at the correct provider.

    • Selecting the title name takes you to the Title Details page where you can view information about the title and which database(s) contain holdings for the title (in the above example you see indication that 40 databases contain holdings for the title).

    • Selecting the right side Ejournal or Ebook link opens up a preview pane on the right side where you can get an overview of the title and access the list of databases containing the holding (included in Title Details page) so that you can find the appropriate holding for this title, and add it to your Intota profile.

See Adding Specific E-Journals and E-Books for information about situations where you subscribe to the title in a database but you do not subscribe to the complete collection.

Search Results Screen for a Contacts Query

A search for a Contact provides you with those contact(s) your library has added to its Intota profile. Further details about the contact are available by selecting either the contact name or the Contact link on the right side of the screen.

Search Results Screen for a License Query

A search for a License provides you with those license(s) your library has added to its Intota profile. Further details about the license are available by selecting either the license name or the License link on the right side of the screen.
