CDI Electronic Collection Matrix - Mapping Alma settings to Primo outcomes

    Created By: Stacey van Groll
    Created on: 5/28/2020

    Background

This CKC is a collaboration between myself (Stacey van Groll of The University of Queensland) and Ex Libris.

I began this mapping document as part of our UQ CDI project, to build understanding of the meaning and function of the new CDI Search Settings in Alma, in conjunction with existing and changed Electronic Collection full text settings.

The ultimate goal is confidence in the expected outcome of mixes of these settings in our Primo environment on CDI, to help us make the best decisions for both discovery and access in the transition from the Primo Central Index (PCI) to the Central Discovery Index (CDI), and ongoing.

After discussing my concept and providing my initial work-in-progress file, Ex Libris has supported this endeavor by returning the mapping with many more entries fleshed out and confirmed, as well as acknowledging that there are some known issues for a few where the behavior is not yet as expected.

Ex Libris have also encouraged the publishing of this CKC at my current detailed level of granularity, and as an outcome of my original work, but have also advised that they are likely to provide a similar sort of mapping in their main documentation, but at a much higher overview level.

In case it is not already clear, this continues to be a work-in-progress, the mapping mixes are not exhaustive, and my testing efforts are ongoing to replicate the information provided by Ex Libris and to continue reporting any new found problems.  I welcome contact by my email address below if you spot anything wrong that needs fixing, if you'd like to suggest a specific mix of settings be added that is missing, or just if you want to talk through the scenarios and help us all learn together.

It is the responsibility of individual sites to do their own testing as they see fit, and I take no responsibility for adverse or unexpected outcomes.

BE EXTRA AWARE: I'm actively reviewing pretty much this whole mapping again after CDI switchover, due to unexpected behaviour (5.10.2020)
