What will happen during the CDI enablement phase?

As part of the CDI enablement, active collections in your Primo Central institutional profile will be moved to the SFX instance.
    The following will happen:

    • Active collections in your Primo Central institutional profile where the full text setting is controlled by the link resolver will be:

      • Set to active for search in SFX.

      • Full text settings are already controlled by SFX and stay as they are (no change).

    • Active collections in your Primo Central institutional profile where the full text setting is controlled on collection level will be:

      • Set to active for search in SFX, and –

      • If they are not already active on SFX – they will be activated for full text on Target level in SFX,

Usually there is a one-to-one relationship between a collection in Primo Central and a target in SFX. However, in some cases there is a difference in how targets are represented in each system. There are many reasons for this, but in generally, SFX is more concerned with how targets are purchased while Primo Central is concerned with how data is being ingested for search.

    Type of relationship Examples

    One-to-One:
One collection in Primo Central and one target in SFX

This represents most of the SFX/Primo Central mapping.
All collections where full text link is handled via ‘Link in record’ and where activation is on package level, are of a ‘One-to-One’ type of relation.

    ScienceDirect Journals

    Many-to-One:
Many collections in Primo Central represented by one target in SFX.

This can occur in case of a ‘selective’ package in SFX, where the provider offers one list of journals the library subscribes to, to be used in SFX for activation. In Primo Central, the provider offered multiple load files for Discovery purposes.

    CDI full text availability status

Status of the target in SFX after the CDI enablement from the Primo Central institutional profile in regards to full text availability. The following status can appear:

No change – set on item level based on all SFX portfolio activations: This appears for targets with the full text status being managed by the individual portfolio activations in SFX (CDI full text linking method is set to linkresolver)

No change – target already active in SFX: Appears if a target is set to full text available on target level (CDI full text linking method is set to link in record) but was already active on SFX so no change was required

Change - Target activated in SFX: Appears if a target is set to full text available on target level (CDI full text linking method is set to link in record) but was not active in SFX before the CDI enablement.

    CDI Full text linking method

This column indicates whether the target is set to full text available on target level and the links within the records are used to access the full text from the discovery interface (status: Link in Record)  or whether its full text settings are controlled by SFX (status: Linkresolver).
