    Index delete problems

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Primo
    • Product Version: 2

    Description:
I am having problems deleting indexes as we prepare for a full reload. I brought up all the se_servers (and the fe_server for good measure) and tried again. I tried both a full clear of the database and indexes and just the indexes. Still get:

    Resetting indexes...
    failed to reset indexes

    Resetting indexes failed, quitting.

I also tried just straight running clear_indexes.sh and that failed too. What do I keep doing each time that screws this up? Or what am I not doing properly when I'm deleting and resetting things?

    Resolution:
In order to delete the indexes - FE, SE's should be up. (not only started as written above, but jboss start up process should be completed - the module must be up).
A common mistake is to start the FE and SE's and execute clean_indexes immediately. This causes a failure in cleaning indexes since the modules are not started yet.

Solution: verify that FE and SE's are up, prior to clean_indexes execution.

Post 2.1.4 release - clean_indexes will be available from the UI and in case of failure an informative screen will be displayed to the user, alerting that FE and SE's might be down and causing the failure.
