Mappings for Export Actions in Primo VE

    Return to menu

Export actions enable users to find material with Primo VE and use its metadata in other systems (such as reference management systems). When a Send To action is invoked, Primo VE maps data fields in Primo VE to data fields used in the target system. This page describes the mapping used for each type of system that is supported by Primo VE.

Only the mappings for the Export to RIS, EasyBib, and EndNote actions are configurable.

Export Mappings for the RIS, EasyBib, and EndNote Actions

The RIS, EasyBib, and EndNote export actions map Primo VE fields to RIS tags. The following table describes the default mapping (including normalization) from PNX sections/fields to RIS tags. You can use the Export Mapping for the RIS, EasyBib, and EndNote Actions mapping table to customize this mapping (see steps).

To modify a RIS field's mapping:
    1. Open the Export Mapping for the RIS, EasyBib, and EndNote Actions mapping table (Configuration Menu > Discovery > Other > Export Mapping for the RIS, EasyBib, and EndNote Actions).

    2. If you haven't already customized any mappings, select Customize to enable the table to be customized.

    3. For each RIS Tag that you want to modify, configure the following fields:

      • RIS Tag – The tag to which the value of the PNX field is mapped in the target system.

      • PNX Section 1 and PNX Section 2 – Indicates the PNX section used to map values from Primo VE to RIS format: display, control, and addata. Local fields are selectable after selecting the display section.

      • PNX Field 1 and PNX Field 2 – Indicates which fields are used to map values from Primo VE to RIS format. The allowable fields are based on the selected PNX section.

      • Multiple Occurrences? – Indicates whether multiple instances of a field are mapped to the RIS format. If this column is left blank, only one instance of a field is mapped.

      • Normalization Regex – If normalization is needed, this field contains the regular expression <regex> used to extract data from the PNX field and also indicates whether the full value of the PNX field is mapped if the regular expression returns no result <map?>. This column uses the following format:

        <regex>;<map?>
    4. Select Save. If you want to return to the default settings, select Restore.
