    Introduction

Once a search query has run, it may be saved in Primo VE in one of the following lists:

    • Search History (User Menu > Search history) – Recent search queries that are saved automatically by the system
    • Saved Searches (User Menu > Saved searches) – Search queries that are saved by signed-in users

Queries that appear in the Search History can be moved to the Saved Searches at any time. Although the same query can appear in the Search History more than once, the same query cannot be added to the Saved Searches more than once.

Both the Search History and Saved Searches are filtered by view. Thus, users only see searches in these pages that they performed under the current view. (Saved Records, on the other hand, are saved per user, regardless of the view under which they were saved, so they are visible under all views when the user is logged in.)

    Search History

Primo VE automatically saves the last search queries performed in the Search History (User Menu > Search history), as follows:

    • For signed-in users, the last 100 searches are saved in the Search History and are retained between sessions.
    • For guests or users who are not signed in, the last 100 searches are saved during the session, but are not retained beyond this. Furthermore, searches performed during a session but prior to sign-in are not retained after sign-in.

When a query appears in the Search History, users can perform the following operations on it:

    • Run the query again
    • Move the query to the Saved Searches
    • Delete the query

Saving a Query from Search History

When you are signed into Primo VE, you can move a query from the Search History to your Saved Searches.

To save a query from the Search History to your Saved Searches:
    • In the Search History (User Menu > Search History), in the row actions of the search query, select Save search. The query is moved from the Search History to your Saved Searches.

    Saved Searches

Signed-in users can save search queries from the search results page to their Saved Searches list (User Menu > Saved searches). They can also optionally choose to receive email alerts when the results of a saved query have changed. Queries in the Saved Searches remain there until they are manually deleted by the user.

After a query has been saved in the Saved Searches, users can perform the following operations on it:

    • Run the query again
    • Delete the query
    • Turn on email alerts to notify you of changes to the query's results

Saving a Query from the Results List

After you run a query, you can save the query from the Brief Results page to your Saved Searches list.

To save a query from the results list:
    1. Perform the search that you want to save.
    2. Above the list of search results, under Save and Export All Results, select Save query. The query is saved to your Saved Searches, and a confirmation message appears above the search results.

      Save Query confirmation message.

    3. If you want to set an alert for this query, in the confirmation message, select Click here. A confirmation message appears, and shows the email address to which the alerts will be sent. This is the email address that appears under the Personal details in the Settings page (User Menu > Settings).

    Receiving Alerts for Saved Queries

You can choose to receive an email alert when the results of a query in your Saved Searches list have changed. Alerts are sent to the email address that appears under the Personal details in the Settings page (User Menu > Settings). They are sent weekly, by the Saved Searches Alerts job, which runs every Friday at 11 p.m. (see Viewing Scheduled Jobs).

You can activate this feature when you first save the query, as explained under Saving a Query from the Results List, above. You can also turn this option on or off at any time for queries in your Saved Searches.

To turn alerts on or off for a saved query:
    • In the row actions of the query, select Set an alert for this search or Remove alert for this search.

When alerts are turned on for a saved query, an Alert is set for this search label appears for it in the Saved Searches page.

    Running a Query Again

In either the Saved Searches or the Search History, you can run a query again by selecting its search term.

    Deleting a Saved Query

Queries that are saved in either the Saved Searches or the Search History can be deleted from their row actions.
