Users with the Project Admin role can assign roles to other users and have full access to all features, settings, and data within a project. This section describes the settings associated with a project.

    To access the Project Settings:
    1. Open the Project Settings page (Cog icon > Settings > Project Settings).

      Open Project Settings
    2. Select the Overview tab to view and modify your Project's settings. To edit a field, select the pencil icon next to it.

      Section Fields

      Project Details

Name – It is not advised to change the project name to maintain consistency in the enterprise records.

Timezone – It is not advised to change this setting since it will result in data time stamps being offset from your actual time zone settings.

      Access Keys

Project Token – The project token is restricted to the Ex Libris team since it is monitored and is prohibited for any other purposes.

Access Key – The API Secret is used to access Mixpanel's API. Its use is monitored and limited strictly to downloading data. You may copy it if needed.

      Session Settings

Definition Type – In Mixpanel, sessions are computed automatically from the events you send. There are three ways to define a session:

      • Timeout-Based (Default) – The session starts when a user performs any event and ends after a period of inactivity (default: 15 min). The timeout period can be set between one minute and 24 hours. Any non-excluded event within the timeout range will restart the session.

      • Event-Based – The session starts with a defined starting event and ends with a defined ending event. If specific events marking the start and end of a session are not clear, a Timeout-Based Session might be more suitable. This option is not recommended because there are no distinct events for those actions.

      • Property-Based – The session is defined by a session_id property. All events with the same session_id value are part of the same session. Events without a session_id value are excluded from session calculations. This option is not recommended since we do not use a session_id.

We chose the Timeout-Based session type because it aligns with Primo VE's timeout session. We do not recommend changing this setting; however, since Mixpanel computes sessions on the fly, you can change this definition at any time, and it will apply historically.

Excluded Events – In Mixpanel, you can exclude certain events from being tracked as part of a session. This is particularly useful for backend API events that do not denote an action made by the user on the site, ensuring the validity of session metrics.

This option is not recommended because we only send user-clicked events. Excluding events would result in the loss of valuable data, leading to only a partial analysis of user behavior.

Session Properties – In Mixpanel, session events automatically use the following properties:

      • Session Duration – The duration between the "Session Start" and the "Session End" events in seconds.

      • Session Event Count – The number of events during a session. This does not include Excluded Events and Hidden Events in Lexicon

      • Session Start Event Name – The original event name that triggered the Session Start event.

In addition, Mixpanel includes the following general properties from events: Country, Browser, Operating System, Referring Domain, Distinct Id, and Event Name.

You can add a maximum of four additional properties to be associated with the session. They will then be accessible for analysis in Mixpanel reports.

The Mixpanel team already associates the "User Type" property when creating a project. You can add or modify this property according to your needs.

      Time Period Settings

Start of Week – In Mixpanel, you can adjust the start of the week by selecting the day. This is particularly useful for the To Date feature, which allows you to select a date range that will update dynamically to fit the current interval: Week to Date, Month to Date, Quarter to Date, and Year to Date.

Start of Quarter – In Mixpanel, you can adjust the start of the quarter by selecting the month. This is particularly useful for the To Date feature, which allows you to select a date range that will update dynamically to fit the current interval: Week to Date, Month to Date, Quarter to Date, and Year to Date.

      Sharing Settings

Default Share Mode – In Mixpanel, the default share mode for boards is set to Viewer. You can change it to "Private" if you want to restrict access to other project members. Each board can also be individually modified from its own Share modal, where you can set the share mode to Editor as well.

      Color Theme Settings

Default Theme – You can select a color theme according to your preference.
