    Color Contrast Improvements for Accessibility

    Released: October 9, 2020

    Dear Colleagues,

We recognize the importance and need to advance accessibility for users of Primo and Primo VE. As such, would like to highlight upcoming the Color Contrast changes as one of the accessibility enhancements coming in the November release for Primo and Primo VE users.

We encourage you to learn more about this enhancement, as it may impact your current customizations. Details below will provide you with answers to the following questions:

What are the upcoming Color Contrast changes?

Changes are being made to the out of the box colors backgrounds, buttons' colors and font. You can notice these changes when navigating with the keyboard or hover elements using the mouse.

Here are some before and after examples:

    1. The color background was changed when focusing on one of the main menu's entry

What are the impacts on your existing customizations?

If you have made changes to font color, buttons color or color background, please make sure to adjust accordingly, noting that the changes we made from the box were made to match the expected contrast ratio. More details can be found here.

When and how is it being rolled out?

The Color Contrast changes will be made available out of the box with the upcoming November release for Primo and Primo VE. These changes are part of an intensive accessibility work we have done recently following an external accessibility audit conducted earlier this year, following WCAG 2.1 AA criteria for example criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)

We recommend checking your customizations following those changes once you get the release on your sandbox. The Primo VE November release is expected to be rolled out starting October 18, 2020, and Primo November release rollout will start on November 8, 2020.
