Citation Style Language (CSL) in RefWorks

    • Product: RefWorks, RefWorks Citation Manager, RefWorks for Google Docs Add-on

Citation Style Language (CSL) is a crowd-sourced repository with commonly used citation styles. In addition to the thousands of RefWorks citation and bibliography styles and any styles you may have created using the RefWorks Citation Style Editor, over 1000 CSL styles are also available in RefWorks.

CSL styles are identified with a green CSL icon and a lock.

They can be selected for use like any other citation style. CSL styles support either in-text citations or notes but not both so the user will be notified what kind of citation is supported.

Because CSL styles are created and maintained by the CSL community, any editing or modifying of these styles is done outside of RefWorks. See the Citation Styles Language editor for more information.

CSL styles are available for use in RefWorks and RefWorks Citation Manager. CSL styles will be supported in Write-N-Cite and GoogleDocs in the future.
