Allowing patrons to place holds on titles they already have on loan

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Desired Outcome Goal:
Allow patrons to place holds on titles they already have on loan (i.e. have the hold button present when viewing the record in Primo).
Sometimes patrons need to check out multiple copies (and place holds on multiple copies) of the same book to get extra copies for a book club.

    Procedure:
    1. The Z305-MULTI-HOLD permission ("Determines whether or not the patron may place more than one hold request for the same item") may allow for this. Z305-MULTI-HOLD is specified on the Local Privileges tab in GUI Circ as "Multiple Hold Requests". (Note that in order for this setting to be in effect check_hold_request_f must be specified in the ./xxx50/tab/tab_hold_request.)

    2. The check_hold_request_m could be relevant ("patron has item on loan and is attempting to request a like copy") in some cases. To effect this, the check_hold_request_m, if present in the ./xxx50/tab/tab_hold_request, needs to be *commented out*.
If the change is being made for Primo, the tab_hold_request HL-GRP and HL-GRP-PRE labels are where the check_hold_request_m needs to be commented out.
