    Question

Does Rosetta support other descriptive metadata schemas besides Dublin Core (e.g. MARC)?

    Answer

A MARC record can be added only as a source metadata record.
This means that in the METS XML file a MARC file cannot be in the descriptive metadata section but in the administrative metadata section.
If necessary, a submission application can apply standard crosswalk transformation to source’s metadata.
Source’s metadata can be stored ('as is') as source metadata.
For example, if the external schema is MARCXML, some of the MARCXML fields can be mapped to Dublin Core and stored as descriptive metadata, while the entire MARCXML record can be stored as source metadata.

    Additional Information

The attached example is a METS file with a MARC record as its source record.
The MARC record is under the “mets:amdSec > mets:sourceMD” section (administrative metadata) but not the mets:dmdSec section (descriptive metadata section).
