Finding Targets for CDI in KBManager
You can filter the Target List to help you find targets. The Filter Target List option allows you to search for targets within the KnowledgeBase. You can use also a number of filters to apply either to the entire Target List or to a specific target search or list.
Filters That Can be Applied to a Search
The following screenshot describes the filters that can be applied to a search:
Filters That Can be Applied to a Search
- Filter target list by Type:
- Link Targets – Displays all link targets (including those that have a separate active for search in CDI function).
- Link and Search Targets – Displays all targets of all types in the KB
- Search Targets – Displays only targets that are for search activation in CDI only
- Add conditions to your search:
- Available for CDI discovery activation - Yes indicates this target can be activated for discovery independent from its full text activation status
- CDI Search Rights – Select Free for targets whose content can be searched for free or Subscription for all targets that require a subscription to search for their content.
- CDI Full Text Rights:
- Open Access – All targets that do not require a subscription to access full text
- Subscription (Target Level) – All targets that require a subscription for full text and are set to available on the target level. They do not use the link resolver for selectively setting the target content to available
- Subscription (Linkresolver) – All targets that require a subscription for full text and the availability setting is performed selectively on the item level, based on your link resolver activations.
- CDI Linking – Indicates which type of link is needed to provide full text for a target. Valid values are Link via Link resolver and Link in record.
- Contains Newspapers in CDI:
- Yes – All targets with content that is available in both the Newspaper Search interface and the Regular Primo search interface
- Yes, Newspapers Search only – All targets with content that is available exclusively from the Newspaper Search interface, not from the Regular Primo search interface
- No – All targets that are not available using the Newspaper Search interface because they do not contain newspapers
- Provider coverage:
- Yes – this target is updated with data directly received from the provider
- No – the target is not updated by a data feed directly from the provider, but at least 80% of the content of the target is covered in CDI by data received from other providers
- CDI type – possible values are: Abstracting & Indexing database (A&I), Full Text Collection, and Hybrid (for targets that contain full text and citation only content in CDI). For details about the different CDI types and how to activate them, see CDI Collections Types and how to activate them for discovery.
- Selective: This is a local setting. Values can be Yes/No – Used to define the type of subscription for this target. Yes indicates a selective subscription and No indicates a non‐selective target. This setting is used to indicate whether you subscribe to the entire title list of a target, or only part of it. CDI uses this setting to determine whether to set a collection to full text available in its entirety, without checking individual portfolios, or to check for active portfolios. This filter is helpful for example if you want to check which target you previously set to selective (non-selective). For more details about this setting, see CDI Configuration Settings for Individual Targets.
- Do not show as Full Text available in CDI even if active in SFX: This is a local setting. Values can be Yes/No . This setting is used to restrict the use of certain targets to SFX linking only and prevent it from being published to CDI for discovery. Example use case: you may have full text active in a specific open access collection and you want this to be used for linking when the user is coming from Google Scholar, web of science, or any other database other than Primo, but you do not want this to be discoverable as part of Primo. For more details about this setting, see CDI Configuration Settings for Individual Targets.
