Summon: Administration Console: Customizing the Home Page

How do we customize the Summon home page display?
This is part of a larger set of documentation about using the Administration Console to configure your Summon service.

Each component can be individually enabled or disabled in the Administration Console, and the content within each is customizable. Additionally, the Primary Announcements, Linked Cards, Secondary Announcements, and About the Library components can be reordered on the page.

Log on to the Client Center.

Select Summon Administration Console.

Select the Pages tab.

Select the Home Page tab.
Here is an example that corresponds with the home page displayed above:

Home Page Navigation

This option turns on or off the the Home link in the header. If enabled, the Home link appears in the header and users can navigate back to the Summon home page from anywhere in the application. If disabled, the user will have to directly enter the Summon home page URL or link to it from another source in order to navigate to the home page.
Primary Announcements
Up to three primary announcements can be defined and displayed on the Summon home page. The top-level "Announcement Title" field defines the component label that displays to users. Click Save at the bottom of the page when done!

Each individual announcement includes the following elements:

| Announcement Title | Label for the individual announcement, event, service, etc. |
| Formatting tools | Text formatting, link outs, alignment, etc. |
| Content | Library-customizable text of the announcement, event, service, etc. |
| Include On Home Page checkbox | Checking this option makes the announcement appear on the home page. Uncheck the box if you want the announcement to be hidden. |
Linked Cards
The Linked Cards component allows you to define up to five visual "cards" or tiles that link out to desired web pages like library services, calendar information, and help pages. There are five available images that may be assigned to a card. The associated title, linked, and order of the cards is customizable. Click Save at the bottom of the page when done!

Secondary Announcements
Up to three secondary announcements can be defined and displayed on the Summon home page. This component offers capabilities similar to Primary Announcements, but can be used for conveying any information you choose. Click Save at the bottom of the page when done!

Each individual announcement includes the following elements:

About the Library
The About the Library component offers the option to market information about the library: history, local digital collections, even institution personnel highlights (with pictures!) Click Save at the bottom of the page when done!

Footer
For additional help or information, the footer can be customized to provide contact information (or in this example, links to campus libraries), plus an optional set of handy links (up to ten). Click Save at the bottom of the page when done!

Section Ordering
To reorder the Primary/Secondary Announcements, Linked Cards, and About the Library components, drag and drop the sections up & down to your desired order. Each component must be enabled in order to display on the home page. Click Save at the bottom of the page!
