Summon: 880 Catalog Record Field Display

    • Product: Summon

Does the Summon service support non-Latin data in the 880 field?

Yes, the Summon service indexes non-Latin data in the 880 field and displays the data in parentheses next to the transliterated form as in the example below.
    880 Field Display

Fields supporting the combined transliteration/non-Latin data display include:
    • Document title
    • Subtitle
    • Publication Title
    • Author
    • Edition
    • Abstract
Indexing 880 fields occurs automatically as part of Summon MARC Mapping. The non-Latin data is searchable via a keyword search (not via a field search). A number of non-Latin languages are supported with enhanced searching through native-language search capabilities.

Display of 880 Fields can be disabled if necessary via the Summon Administration Console.
Libraries using the Summon API also have access to the 880 fields.
