Ulrichsweb: Downloaded Titles Count Different Than Search Results Count

    • Product: Ulrichs

Why is the count of titles that I've downloaded or added to a List different from the count on the Ulrichsweb results page?

When you conduct a search in Ulrichsweb, your results set will by default include the current titles of publications and any historic title-variants (such as former titles) related to the current titles.
This default functionality lets you select the name by which you may know the publication, even if that title is not the current title. When you select a historic title-variant for download or add a historic title-variant to a List, your file will show you the current title and any of its historic title-variants as a single result. Therefore, the count of the titles you download or add to a List will be smaller than the count of results shown in Ulrichsweb.
The "Historic Title" icon helps you easily identify historic title-variants in your search results. You can display the Historic Title icon by selecting the Change Columns option and checking the box next to Historic Title.
