After adding 856 field, subfield u incorrectly displays in OPAC

    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 8.2.0

    Problem Symptoms

    • After adding 856 fields in GDC, both z and u subfields show in OPAC, together as the active link text.
    • After resaving record in Cataloging, u subfield no longer shows in OPAC; z subfield is active link text.

    Cause

Rule is adding subfield z as text embedded in subfield u; subfields must be added separately to the records.

    Resolution

Scenario: Existing data change rule set contains following parameters for consequence:

    • Add MARC Subfield
    • Field: 856
    • Indicator 1: 4
    • Indicator 2: 0
    • Subfield: u
    • Value: http://<URL> |z <Public Note text>

Subfield z should be added as its own subfield rather than embedded in the u subfield.

    1. Edit existing consequence:
      • Add MARC Subfield
      • Field: 856
      • Indicator 1: 4
      • Indicator 2: 0
      • Subfield: u
      • Value: http://<URL>
    2. Add a second consequence to same rule set:
      • Add MARC Subfield
      • Field: 856
      • Indicator 1: 4
      • Indicator 2: 0
      • Subfield: z
      • Value: <Public Note text>
    3. Save rule set.
