Bib history changed when using Voyager Global Data Change to modify holdings

    • Product: Voyager
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Multi-Tenant Direct, Dedicated-Direct, Local, TotalCare

    Question

Why is the Bib History Tab updated when using Global Data Change (GDC) to modify (update) holdings data?

    Answer

Global Data Change extracts Bib-MFHD pairs when changing holdings data.  Therefore the Bib History Tab is updated when the holdings record is modified.

Specifically, a "REPLACE" status action is logged in the Bib History Tab.

    Additional Information

Global Data Change uses Marc Export to export records, and Bulk Import to reimport records. See Chapter 5 of the Global Data Change User's Guide: "GDC Execution/Job Management" and Chapter 8: "Data Change Job Processing (Server)".

"REPLACE" is used when a record is updated via an import profile which uses a bib detection profile with Duplicate Handling set as Replace.
