    CAT: Some headings with matching Authority records are not Authorized

    Symptoms

    Some headings with matching Authority records are not Authorized.

    Defect Status

    Issue 16384-21329 is resolved for Voyager 8.2.0.

    If you are on Voyager 8.2.0 and experiencing this issue, please open a Support Incident via eService and request the fix for Issue 16384-21329. This fix requires a subsequent HEADINGS regen for full resolution.

    Replication steps

    1. Uncheck Cataloging > Options -> Preferences -> Validation -> Bypass Authority Control
    2. Import attached authority record > Save to DB.
    3. Look at the headings created in AUTH_HEADING (select * from AUTH_HEADING where AUTH_ID=<newauthid>;).
    4. In AUTH_HEADING it?s a corporate name (select * from heading where HEADING_ID=<the heading id>;).
    5. Import attached bibliographic record > Save to DB.
    6. Look at the headings created in bib_heading (select * from BIB_HEADING where BIB_ID=<the new bib_id>;). Notice the entry for the subject field.
    7. In the heading table, staffrefs and opacrefs for this heading are blank (select * from HEADING where HEADING_ID=<new bib subject heading>;).
    8. In the cataloging client, this shows up as ?Nonexistent Heading? in the headings validation box. In Staff Subject Headings Search, headings do not show as Authorized.

    Additional Information

    Happens with SCIS subject headings, Schools online thesaurus, UNBIS thesaurus; maybe others. Authority records with headings that have subdivisions validate (see attached).
