Calendar closed dates are not factored into due date

    Question

Circulation calendars have closed dates for December 25th to January 2nd.

When we charge items that have 21 day or 28 day charge period, the system is ignoring the closed dates in the calendars and calculating 21 days or 28 days after charge date. Why isn't the system acknowledging our closed dates?

    Answer

Closed dates come into play when the calculated due date falls on one of those closed dates. If there are closed dates in the Circulation calendar between the charge date and the calculated due date, and the calculated due date is an open date in the calendar, then these dates are not factored into the due date calculation.

However, if the due date falls on a closed date in the Circulation calendar, the "Count Closed Days/Hours/Minutes for Loan" setting is then applied to determine the due date.

    Additional Information

See System Administration User's Guide, Table 5-14: "Check boxes and fields in the Policies Tab of the Circulation - Policy Definitions Workspace" for more information on the "Count Closed" settings.
