ILL: Diacritics do not translate to WebVoyage properly

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 6.5.4

    Description:
Bug Report Form for Issue 16384-15489
    Module(s): WebVoy?ge, ILL
Server platform(s) affected: Tested on Solaris
PC OS (if applicable): Windows XP
Browser & version (if applicable): IE (as used by MS Access)

    Release(s) replicated in: ILL 6.3.1

Expected results: To be able to check the local holdings of an ILL request whose title contains diacritics

Actual results: When trying to check local holdings, records with diacritics don’t translate to the search box (they show up as an unknown character), thus the search fails.

Workflow implications: “Check Local Holdings” button doesn’t work on all records

    Replication steps:
    1. In ILL Management, go to Preferences -> OPAC Setup and ensure the following settings
    a. OPAC URL = http://<voyager_ip>:<tomcat_port>/
    b. SearchStringTitle1 = vwebv/search?searchArg=
    c. SearchStringTitle2 = &searchCode=TALL&searchType=1
    2. If necessary, place an ILL request for an item with diacritics in the title. Alternative you can load an already existing ILL request if one exists
    3. In ILL request, load the request placed in step 2, and click on “Check Local Holdings”. The search attempted in the OPAC will fail, and you’ll see strange characters in place of the diacritics in the search box

Other information: This happens in both OPACs
