KW: non-filing indicators and apostrophe prevent accurate kw search results

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 7.2.3

    Description:
    Bug Report Issue 16384-18385

    Modules: Cataloging, WebVoyage
    Releases replicated in: 7.0.1 – 8.1.1
Expected results: Non-filing indicators would not prevent accurate keyword indexing/searching.

Actual results: A non-filing indicator for an initial article with an apostrophe (i.e., 245 2nd indicator=2 for title beginning with L’Ancetre) will not find the record via keyword search without the initial article (i.e., ‘ancetre’).

The record is findable via keyword search if searched with the normalized initial article appended to beginning of word (i.e., lancetre).

Workflow implications: Not all records found, may not be clear why.

    Replication steps:
In Cataloging, import and save the attached record (LAncetre.bib). Note the 245 2nd indicator is 2, and the initial article is L’
In Cataloging or WebVoyage, conduct a keyword search for ‘ancetre’
The record you imported will not be among the search results.
Now go back and search for ‘lancetre’
The record will be returned in the search results.

Other information: Voyager indexes this title in left-anchored indexes correctly. If you replace the apostrophe with a space, the keyword search will find the record with ‘ancetre’.

Workaround: The record is findable via keyword search if searched with the normalized initial article appended to beginning of word (i.e., lancetre)

    Resolution:
This is working correctly as of 8.2.0.
