Module: Media Scheduling
Release(s): reported in 6.5.4; replicated in 7.1.0
Server Platform(s) affected: Solaris/all
PC O/S (if this is PC specific): n/a
Browser type & version (if WebVoyage): n/a
Expected Results: Grace periods set in Media Policy Settings should be honored regardless of the interval frequency selected.
Actual Results: Grace periods are not recognized for intervals set to minutes (fines are assessed starting as soon as a booking is overdue).
Workflow Implications: Patrons are charged unnecessary fines; staff have to clean up erroneous fines.
In Media SA, go to Media Scheduling>Policy Settings>Equipment tab and create a new setting that uses a booking and fine interval set to minutes.
Set a grace period for fines (for 15 minutes, for example).
In Media SA>Media Scheduling>Policy Groups>select & edit a policy group>Matrices>Equipment, create a new matrix for the equipment type/patron group you plan to use in your booking, and associate this combo with your new Policy Setting.
In Media Scheduling, create a booking using the patron/piece of equipment matching the matrix you just created.
Charge the booking out.
Once the booking has gone overdue (but is still within the grace period!), discharge the booking.
Check your patron record in Circulation – you’ll see that your patron has been assessed fines though you returned the booking during the grace period.
If your setting has the fine interval set to another frequency (hourly, for example), items returned during the grace period will *not* be assessed a fine.
From issue resolution:
Fixed in the Media Scheduling server for 7.2.2.
