Search results sorting by Index Column, rather than Primary Sort option selected for index

    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: All
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Total Care; Dedicated-Direct; Direct; Local

    Problem symptoms

NALL index set to sort by Title, but sorting by author instead and including subfield e (relator term) from the 100 and 700 fields in the sort

    Cause

"Show Index Column With Search Results" box is checked for the index in System Administration. When this option is checked, Voyager will display in the Titles Index the indexed result that is found first, and it will also default to sorting by this column. If the indexed result includes relator terms and other subfields, these will be displayed & sorted in the results.

    Resolution

If sorting by the Index Column is undesirable:

    1. System Administration > Search > Indexes - Composite Definitions > {index} > Edit
    2. Click Search Results tab
    3. Uncheck "Show Index Column With Search Results" check box
    4. Optional: add other Bib Text fields to the Selected column if author or other information is desired for search results display.
    5. Save.

Changes will take effect when a new Cataloging client session is started.
