WEBV:search by bib_id retrieves suppressed bibs

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 8.1.0

    Description:
Bug Report Form for Issue 16384-11681

    Module: WebVoyage
Release(s): reported in Unicode; replicated in 7.2.2
    Server Platform(s) affected: Solaris/all
PC O/S (if this is PC specific): n/a
Browser type & version (if WebVoyage): n/a

Expected Results: A suppressed bib record should not be viewable in WebVoyage, regardless of the method used to retrieve results.

Actual Results: If you’re searching your catalog using bib_id, you can retrieve suppressed bib records and save them to your account.

Workflow Implications: Patrons may be able to view data that staff have tried to prevent from making public.

    Replication steps:
    Suppress a record in Cataloging.
Do a search for the record by title – you’ll get no hits.
Do a second search for the record by using the bib_id (http://www.yourlibrary.edu:7008/vwebv/holdingsInfo?bibId=28456)

This time you’ll successfully retrieve the suppressed record.

    Resolution:
    Fixed in WebVoyage for 8.1.0.
