    WebV: incorrect date format display for some dates

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 8.1.0

    Problem Symptoms:
    * In webvoyage.properties, have commented out MM-dd-yyyy date format and enabled dd-MM-yyyy date format.
    * In WebVoyage, when a date is displayed, it sometimes follows the enabled format, and sometimes follows the format that was commented out; pattern suggests when the month begins with 1 (10, 11, 12) rather than 0 (09, 04, etc), the month displays incorrectly.

    Cause:
    This behavior is the result of a software defect.

    Resolution:
    Defect was resolved by other defect fixes after 8.1.0 and by the release of 8.2.2 (fix for VYG-239 / Issue 16384-16194 which resolved similar issue in vxws.properties in 8.1.2 may have resolved this issue).

    Additional Information

    Workaround
    date.format.* values in vxws.properties conform to java format; setting the month value to display alphabetic abbreviation rather than numeric will display correctly and be less confusing to patrons:

    date.format.short=dd-MMM-yyyy
    date.format.long=dd-MMM-yyyy hh:mm:ss
