What does rank mean in BulkImport log file?

    • Article Type: Q&A

    • Product Version: 8.2.2

    Question

In log.imp.* file for BulkImport, there is BibID & rank logged. What does the number logged for rank mean?

    Answer

Rank is the total field weight for all field matches between the incoming and existing records as defined by the import rule's Bibliographic Duplicate Detection Profile.

If the rank value meets or exceeds the Duplicate Replace value set in the profile, the import process will consider this match a duplicate and handle the incoming record according to the Duplicate Handling defined in the profile.

    Additional Information

    Example:

If you have defined in System Administration > Cataloging > Bibliographic Duplicate Detection > {profile} > Field Definitions:

    Field: Field weight:
    BBID 100
    0350 100

    If the incoming record contains
    001 554321
    035 112345

and a record in the database contains
    001 554321
    035 112345

then in the log you will see
    BibID & rank
    554321 - 200
