What is ESIP in the Voyager environment?

    • Product: Voyager
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Multi-Tenant Direct, Dedicated-Direct, Local, TotalCare

    Question

    What is ESIP?

    Answer

ESIP is an abbreviation of "Extended SIP", where SIP is the 3M SIP standard.

Voyager uses a modified version of the 3M SIP 2.00 protocol: one that does not use every message or feature. Voyager also includes some proprietary elements, which you may review in the  Interface to Self Check Modules Using 3M SIP User’s Guide.  In that Guide, Appendix A describes the SIP2 support, and Appendix B describes the ESIP support. ESIP adds additional messaging and features beyond what is available in the SIP2 protocol, and is required by some vendors.

Note that in this "Extended" (or "Enhanced") SIP, Message 99 (SC Status) is used to specify that ESIP messages are utilized (value "Y").  A value of "N" specifies only standard 3M SIP messaging is utilized.

    Example:

    SC_Status Request Message: 9900802.13Y

See Table B-1 in the   Interface to Self Check Modules Using 3M SIP User’s Guide
