    Question

    What is base currency?

    Answer

The base currency is the local currency. The base currency is set in System Administration at time of implementation, and should not be updated without first consulting Ex Libris.

Information about the base currency is stored in the BASE_CURRENCY table. The BASE_DECIMALS field records the number of places after the assumed decimal point in the scaled number. For example, if BASE_DECIMALS is 2, then the monetary amount has been multiplied by 100 and rounded off to an integer before storing it in the database. The DECIMAL_DELIMITER field gives the preferred character to represent the decimal.
