What is the Voyager System Administrator operator (SYSADMIN) account?

    Question

What is the System Administrator operator (SYSADMIN) account?

    Answer

Master Security Profiles (such as "System Administrator" and "Backup Administrator") control access to the Voyager System Administration module.

The "Out of the Box" System Administration Security Profile comes with a "SYSADMIN" System Administrator operator. This operator performs security, system-wide configuration, policy group configuration and other essential tasks.

Sites have a limited ability to modify the System Administrator operator (aka: SYSADMIN), and its associated System Administrator Master Security Profile because both are critical to the proper functioning of Voyager.

Sites are strongly encouraged to share their SYSADMIN operator account password with Ex Libris so that it can be documented. This account is also extremely useful for troubleshooting, and post-upgrade functional testing.

Other operators can be linked to a Master Security Profile (such as "Backup Administrator") so that they can also perform Security, System-wide Configuration, Policy Group Configuration, and other essential tasks.

This account should be used with extreme care.

    Additional Information

See the "Master Security Profiles - Creating, Editing, and Deleting" section in Chapter 9 of the  System Administration User's Guide.
