CAT: space between delimiter & subfield causes subfield to disappear CAT: space

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 9

    Description:
    Issue 14874 / VYG-4276
    Date: April 19, 2010
    Module(s): Cataloging
    Server platform(s) affected: All
    PC OS (if applicable): N/A
Browser & version (if applicable): N/A

    Release(s) replicated in: 7.2.1
Last version without bug (if applicable): N/A

    Expected results:
Voyager indexing should disregard any spaces between a delimiter mark and subfield.

Actual results: A problem occurs in the Cataloging module when the subfield code in a bibliographic record is NOT input immediately following the delimiter for the subfield. When a blank space is input between the delimiter and the subfield code, then the subfield disappears -- no data in the subfield is indexed in any heading or left-anchored index and all the words do not appear in the keyword indexes.

Workflow implications: Causes keyword data not to be indexed properly

    Replication steps:
    Create a 245 with subfield a ($a subfielda)
Add a subfield b but add a space between the delimiter and the subfield b ($ b subfieldb)
Save the record to the db.
    Keyword search for subfielda
    Record found
    Keyword search for subfieldb
    Record NOT found
Delete space between the delimiter and the subfield b and resave record to db
    Keyword search for subfieldb
    Record found

    Workaround:
Remove extra space between delimiter and the subfield and resave record to the db.

    Resolution:
VYG-4276 is resolved in Voyager 9.0.0 and higher.
