    1. What is happening to the name of several Chadwyck-Healey Black Studies Center databases?

What is happening to the name of several Chadwyck-Healey Black Studies Center databases?

Chadwyck-Healey Black Studies Center has migrated to the ProQuest platform. Therefore, we will be changing the database names in the Knowledgebase to include "(Legacy)," indicating that they are not the current ProQuest databases. The content of the databases, and the database IDs, will remain the same.

You can find more information about the migration of Black Studies Center here. We will publish a separate article when these databases are going to be retired.

The database name changes will take effect on July 28, 2021:

Old database name DB code New database name
Black Abolitionist Papers CI9 Black Abolitionist Papers (Legacy)
Black Studies Center PBS Black Studies Center (Legacy)
Black Studies Center: Black Literature Index 020 Black Studies Center: Black Literature Index (Legacy)
Black Studies Center: Dissertations S4V Black Studies Center: Dissertations (Legacy)
Black Studies Center: Newspaper Collection -19 Black Studies Center: Newspaper Collection (Legacy)
International Index to Black Periodicals Full Text CIB International Index to Black Periodicals Full Text (Legacy)
Schomburg Studies on the Black Experience PJY Schomburg Studies on the Black Experience (Legacy)

Actions you may need to take:

    • If you are a 360 MARC Updates client and have requested the custom specification that adds the database name as it appears in the Client Center/Intota to MARC records, you can expect to see some change records when you get your MARC records after July 28.
    • If your library uses a third-party service (such as EBSCO A-Z, etc.), custom scripts to manage data, or other non-ProQuest tools that require the database name to function, you should note the change in ProQuest's database name in order to retain the proper relationship/mapping between those tools.
