360 KB: Safari Books: Database Name Change -- August 2011

    • Product: 360 KB

What is happening to the Safari Books databases?

The Safari databases offered through ProQuest are not migrating to the new ProQuest platform as they are hosted on the Safari platform. As a result, on Aug. 20, 2011, we will be changing the database names in the 360 KB knowledgebase to better reflect the name of these products, as shown in this table:

    Before Aug. 20, 2011 After Aug. 20, 2011
Safari Business Books (Legacy Platform) Safari Business Books
Safari Business Books (Current File) (Legacy Platform) Safari Business Books (Current File)
Safari Select books (Legacy Platform) Safari Select books
Safari Technical Books (Current File) (Legacy Platform) Safari Technical Books (Current File)
Safari Technical Books (Legacy Platform) Safari Technical Books

Actions you may need to take:

    • If your library uses a third-party ERM service (such as SFX, EBSCO A-Z, and so forth), custom scripts to manage data, or other non-Serials Solutions tools that require the database name to function, you should note the change in Serials Solutions' database name before Aug. 20 in order to retain the proper relationship/mapping between those tools.
    • If you are a 360 Counter client, you will need to make some changes the next time you upload consolidated reports from ProQuest. Please see instructions here.
    • If you are a 360 MARC Updates client and have requested the custom specification that adds the provider name to MARC records, you can expect to see some change records when you get your MARC records after Aug. 20.
