Taylor & Francis Journals Auto-holdings Functionality: Missing Titles

Important Update on Taylor & Francis Journals Auto-holdings Integration

Background: The Taylor & Francis Journals Autoholdings integration was initially launched in February 2024, utilizing the existing Alma CZ journals collection: Taylor & Francis Current Content Access (CZ collection id: 611000000000002216).

Since its release, there have been reports of issues regarding missing content and variations in coverage dates, which were duly investigated in collaboration with  Taylor & Francis. It was discovered that approximately 1000 titles, including previous editions, perpetual content no longer offered for sale, and content with a non-"current” coverage, were not included in the "Current Content Access" collection.

Transition to New Collection: After extensive discussions and analysis, it has been decided that a new, dedicated CZ collection will be utilized for the Taylor & Francis Journals Autoholdings functionality. The new collection: "Taylor & Francis Journals Auto-Holdings Collection" (CZ collection id: 615400000000000635), will include the complete journals title list. This collection will be regularly updated to ensure accurate coverage of all institutional titles. The provider is committed for keeping this collection full with all the titles that an institution might have access to, regardless of their nature.

Effective Date: Commencing from the August 2024 release, the Taylor & Francis Journals autoholdings integration will transition to exclusively use the new "Taylor & Francis Journals Auto-Holdings Collection" (CZ Collection ID: 615400000000000635).

This change aims to enhance the accuracy and completeness of your journal holdings data, and avoiding the need to perform manual actions.

What do you need to do?
  • To continue benefiting from the integration post-August 2024 release, institutions will need to activate the new Taylor & Francis Journals Auto-Holdings Collection (CZ Collection ID: 615400000000000635). The activation can be done prior to the August 2024 release.

Note that only the electronic collection and its service need to be activated (select the Activate this electronic collection service and Make service available Full Text Service options). There is no need to activate any portfolios (select the Manual activation - activate electronic collection and manually select portfolios Activation Type option). The activation of the portfolios is done by the upload electronic holdings integration process.

For those wishing to retain acquisition details such as PO lines and licenses associated with the titles, it is recommended to employ the Move electronic portfolio information as follows:

  1. Create a set of the content type electronic collection that includes collection Taylor & Francis Current Content Access (CZ collection id: 611000000000002216).
  2. Open the Run a Job - Select Job to Run page (Admin > Manage Jobs and Sets > Run a Job), and search for the Move electronic portfolio information job.
  3. Select the Move electronic portfolio information job and select Next.
  4. Select the set that you created above and select Next.
  5. For the Target electronic collection, select the new dedicated collection: Taylor & Francis Journals Auto-Holdings Collection (CZ Collection ID: 615400000000000635).
  6. Select the Move PO lines and Move licenses options and complete the required information as needed.
  7. Select Next and review/confirm the job summary information.
  8. Select Submit.

Testing in sandbox: If you would like to test the upload electronic holdings job with the new collection in sandbox environment, you will need to run the job manually because scheduled jobs are not running in sandbox:

Open the Taylor and Francis integration profile (Configuration > General > Integration profiles, select integration type: Upload electronic holdings). In the “actions” tab select: “Save and run now”.
