Alma Fulfillment and Resource Sharing features allow patrons to gain quick and easy access to resources of all formats, utilizing library-managed resources as well as resources the library can obtain from external sources​.

What’s New Highlights Impact

Option to make the core user-information accessible only to designated library operators.

It will be possible restrict searching for user information to specific libraries. Users of a library will be retrieved in searches only for staff operators of that library.

Increased privacy by having the ability to separate the libraries' patron list between libraries.

Proxy Loan Navigation Improvements

What’s New Highlights Impact

Improvements in using a proxy patron account in Manage Patron Services.

It will possible to easily identify a proxy patron at the circulation desk, and choose the sponsor on whose behalf an item is checked out. 

Improved efficiency of proxy-patron management at the circulation desk.

Enhanced RapidILL Integration

What’s New Highlights Impact

New integration points with RapidILL.

It will be possible to configure lending off-times in Alma and have them automatically registered as off-times in RapidILL, eliminating the need for configuring both separately. 

Fully seamless workflow and configuration with RapidILL.

What’s New Highlights Impact

Updating personal delivery address at request time.

Patrons that are eligible for personal delivery can request to pick up resources at an address other than their registered home address.

This enables using the personal delivery service even when no known home address has been uploaded to the system.

It also enables patrons to easily change the registered address when requesting for personal delivery.

Manage Patron Services Screen – Early Access to Enhanced UX

What’s New Highlights Impact

A new Patron Services screen.

  • UX group members will have initial access to elements of the new Patron Services screen.

  • The screen will be redesigned to leverage new layout capabilities and provide a fresh and improved user experience.

The new Patron Services screen enables quicker and more effective work at the circulation desk, using a cleaner and better personalized Patron Services screen.

UX group members will be able to provide initial feedback in order to enhance and fine tune the screen features before general availability.

What’s New Highlights Impact

Option to set expiration dates for proxy users.

When creating a proxy patron, it will be possible to set a date after which the proxy user will no longer be able to receive fulfillment services on behalf of the sponsor.

No need to manually manage the expiry of proxy users that are set up on a yearly basis.

Support Version 3 of D2IR APIs for Integration with InnReach

What’s New Highlights Impact

Alma will support version 3 of the INNReach D2IR APIs.

The new version of the API will support seamless integration in an InnReach network, including the ability to support visiting patrons.

Improved integration and more efficient workflows for Alma libraries that participate in an InnReach network.

Support visiting patrons when the Alma library is part of  an InnReach network.

Manage Patron Services Screen – Opt-In to Enhanced UX    

What’s New Highlights Impact

A new Patron Services screen.

The screen will be redesigned to leverage new layout capabilities and provide a fresh and improved user experience.

In this phase of the UI rollout, the new UI will not be activated by default but it will be possible for institutions and individual users to activate if they choose to do so.

Quicker and more effective work at the circulation desk, using a cleaner and improved personalized Patron Services screen.

Below is the in work prototype. This is being used as the basis for the design of the new Patron Services page.

RequestIt! - Submitting Resource Sharing Requests to External Sources

What’s New Highlights Impact

Ability to submit resource-sharing requests from third party discovery interfaces.

Patrons will be able to use pre-populated forms, based on search results from a third- party discovery source, for submitting resource-sharing requests.

Patrons will be able to create resource-sharing requests from many different discovery sources.

"Query to Patron" Responses in Alma

What’s New Highlights Impact

Automatic handling of patrons' responses to resource-sharing request related queries.

Patrons will be able to answer queries sent to them by resource-sharing staff directly in Alma.

Faster feedback from patrons on library queries and faster library processing of the requests.

What’s New Highlights Impact

It will be possible to configure the system  to send a new email to the patron when hold shelf renewal takes place.

​Updating the expiry date for items on hold shelf will allow resending a notification letter with the new expiry date. 

Patrons will be better updated about the status of their hold shelf items, without requiring manual library staff work.

What’s New Highlights Impact

It will be possible to run a job on the set of users to purge them.

​Purging users will be possible not only based on the purge date, but also as a triggered action on an identified set of users.

This new option will make it easier to clean up user data based on various criteria used by the library.

Notices will be automatically sent to patrons when their loans are automatically renewed.

Patrons will receive a notification when a loan is renewed by the system
