Overview

Alma provides you with the ability to manage all aspects of physical resources. Robust workflows ensure that all types of physical items are handled efficiently, easily and quickly. Physical resource workflows are fully integrated with acquisitions and fulfillment as well as all aspects of resource availability.

2022 H1

Metadata import of multiple holdings

What’s New Highlights Impact
The inventory operator will be able to import multiple holdings derived from a single title 
  • It will be possible to create multiple holdings from a single title based on information in the bibliographic record and a holdings identifier
Increase the automation of inventory creation based on titles

Unavailable Physical Items Process Types (NERS 7177, 7350)

What’s New Highlights Impact
The inventory operator will be able to control the availability of items using simple work orders ("static status")
  • Ability to add a new work order without a department which can be used as a 'static status'
  • Ability to change the item process type using a custom work order
  • Ability to change the item Process Type via the Change Physical Items job
  • A discovery label can be added to each Process Type by a code table, for the Get It display (Fulfillment)
  • Add Process Types to "Exclude Process Types from Publishing" in
  • Suppressed items will be marked in the search result 
Increase the accuracy of item's availability in discovery

Collection Retention

What’s New Highlights Impact
The inventory operator will be able to manage physical items that are part of retention programs 
  • Ability to mark an item to be retained with its relevant information

  • The system will not allow the withdrawal of items that are marked as 'committed to retain'

  • Ability to update retain fields in a batch process for a group of items

  • Ability to access retain information via items search, analytics and API

The inventory operator will be able to efficiently manage items that are under retention agreements

Physical Item Staff Search - Enhanced UX

  • Ability to use multi value selection facets​

  • Ability to perform cross page bulk operation​s

  • Stay in context while editing items

The user will be able to quickly find items and perform actions as needed

Holdings – Support Set Management

What’s New Highlights Impact
Staff users managing physical inventory will be able to manage sets on the holdings level and use these sets in jobs that support the batch processing of holding records
  • Ability to create itemized and logical sets from holding search results​

  • Ability to run a set of holdings on existing jobs

Staff users will be able to better automate holdings management with a higher level of accuracy

Holdings – Enhanced Batch Jobs

What’s New Highlights Impact
New bulk operations and batch jobs for holdings records will be added to Alma

Ability to use a set of holdings for new jobs covering different aspects of inventory management. For example, change holdings information will update only relevant holdings and not all holdings based on a set.

The inventory manager will be able to better automate holdings management with a higher level of accuracy
