    October Sneak Preview

The features below are currently planned for the next release. However, some of these features may, for various reasons, not be included in this month's release, but rather in a future Alma release.

    Resource Management

    • Limiting ERM Actions Based on User Role's Scope -There will be new functionality that will enable limiting electronic resource management actions based on the user role’s scope. Various staff user's actions such as editing, updating, deleting, activating, deactivating, etc., will be enabled/disabled based on the library scope of the user role (at the library or institution level). This functionality will provide better control over staff activities across libraries.
For a full description of the functionality, see Limiting Actions Related to Portfolios and E-collections According to User Role Scope.

For more information about this functionality see  Q&A: Limiting Actions Related to Portfolios and E-collections According to User Role Scope.

    • Allow Binding of Items Not in Place - The inventory operator will now be able to define bind item workflows even if items are not in place. This will simplify the binding workflow and allow for more flexibility.
    • New Metadata Editor fully functional - Ex Libris extended the time period to allow users to familiarize themselves with the new MD Editor. From the October release the classic MD Editor will no longer be available. Switch to the new MD editor if you haven’t already done so.

    Digital Resource Management

Access Right Policy for Expiration - The new access rights policy will allow staff to set an expiry date to digital representations, either as an absolute date or relative to a time-based attribute of the content, after which the representations will be suppressed rom discovery.

    Resource Sharing

Change/Addition to Resource Sharing Facets - On the lender task list there will be a new facet ‘External System Status’. This new facet will include updates from broker systems that support request updates with Alma.

On the borrower side, the existing 'BL status' field will be renamed to 'External System Status'. In addition to the British Library, other broker systems that support updating Alma on changes to the borrower requests may also update this field.

    Administration

    • Excel Report Output Improvements - The excel file's format will be improved for easier use and readability for all lists exported from Alma.
    • Patron CC email addresses - It will be possible to define CC emails as part of a patron’s contact Information. All emails that will be sent to the patron’s preferred email address will also be sent to all CC addresses. Later developments will allow patrons to manage their CC addresses from Primo.

    APIs

User Registration rules for Create User API - The User API will be enhanced to support the creation of users while also leveraging the User Registration Rules, as it is done in Alma.
