    360 KB: Gale - World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean product change (April 2023)

    The World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean product from Gale will be changed signficantly at the end of June 2023. There are collections being removed, and you may need to select new collections (depending on the subscriptions that your library has at the date of the change). Pay close attention to the changes listed below. 

    Collections To Be Retired/Removed (approx. 3 months after migration in June):

    Although the migration of the product and all of the changes will take place near the end of June 2023, we will keep World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean active in Ex LIbris KBs for approximately 3 months following the change from Gale. Be advised that linking and access of records in the KBs may no longer work, depending on your library's subscriptions at the time of migration. These collections will be removed TBA

    New/replacement collection for Primary Source Content

    The primary source material from the former collection will be spun off into a new collection by itself. This collection has yet to be created in the KBs - we will update the table with the details once available. This new collection will not be available through Gale Research Complete or other Gale bundled products; it will be a separate subscription.

    The previous product (World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean) contained "Collections", and "Portals". The new product will only contain the "Collections" records. MARC will be available for this new product a few months following the launch of the product (approx. October 2023), at which time we will populate the collection with the records available.

    Ebook Content

    World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean contained some ebook titles. These will no longer be available in the new collection above.

    • Gale Research Complete North America - 2 of the ebook titles have been added to this bundle's included ebooks
    • Gale Access Program - 17 of the ebook titles have been added to this bundle's included ebooks

    Other institutions not participating in these products/bundles may have to purchase these books separately. 

    Journal/Periodical Content

    World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean contained some periodical titles and articles. These will no longer be available in the new collection above.
