    1. What is happening to the databases Sociological Abstracts and Sociological Abstracts (pre-2017)?

What is happening to the databases Sociological Abstracts and Sociological Abstracts (pre-2017)?

We have recently created a new ProQuest database in the 360 KB called Sociological Abstracts (DBID: BHHNA), and changed the database name of DBID 7U4 to Sociological Abstracts (pre-2017). (Note: these are both zero-title databases).

Prior to 2017, DBID 7U4 (currently named "Sociological Abstracts (pre-2017)" in the KB) was effectively representing just Sociological Abstracts itself. After your 2017 ProQuest renewal, the new version of Sociological Abstracts will already contain all the records from Social Services Abstracts too, so you should select the new Sociological Abstracts product (BHNNA) from the Knowledgebase when this happens. If in doubt, please, contact your account manager.

    Action you need to take:

    • If your 2017 ProQuest renewal has already occurred, update the holdings in your Intota or Client Center profile by subscribing to the new database instead of the old database.  For information on how to update your profile, and considerations prior to removing the old database from your profile:
      • Intota users click here.
      • Client Center users click here.
    • If you are a 360 MARC Updates client and have requested the custom specification that adds direct URLs or database specific information to MARC records, you can expect to see some change records when you get your next MARC records.
