    360 KB: eLibro Metadata Mismatch and Article Level Links - 2023

    December 2023 - As we have published earlier, in May 2023, multiple records in the title lists for the eLibro collections are representing journal articles and not the journal-level titles.

    Provider was notified about this issue and worked on removal of these entries. However, after they have once removed a substantial number of such entries from the title lists, and we have updated the relevant collections with the new clean title lists, provider was contacted by many mutual customers concerned by the unexpected drop in titles count. As a result, provider has reinstated these article-level records in the title list.

    360 KB, as well as other Ex Libris knowledgebase products, is not designed to hold such type of records. Our knowledgebase collections are updated using the KBART files which by design are meant to include journal-level and monograph-level entries. This is an industry standard, and we adhere to it. The correct product for inclusion of the article-level information is our Central Discovery Index served by Summon and Primo applications. We have a metadata feed from eLibro supplied for CDI and are reviewing the changes that may need to be applied to it.

    We had another round of discussions with provider and, as a result,  majority of the latest title lists (supplied to us at the end of November 2023) no longer contain article-level records. Due to this change you will see a drop in titles count in many of e-Libro knowledgebase collections.

    This change should not affect the metadata feed sent to the Central Discovery Index.

    We will update this article with additional information as soon as it becomes available.

     

    May 2023 - Some records from eLibro has metadata mismatch, with titles links lead to different titles and records link to article pages instead of the journal index.

    To fix this we will need eLibro to remove article-level records from the KBART title lists.

    We are discussing this with e Libro for some time now. At this time it is up to the provider's roadmap to resolve the issue.
