Leganto Implementation for Ex Libris Implementers

    Configuring Leganto

Libraries can configure the user interface of Leganto to make it fit the needs of the institution. Configurations are made by administrators in Alma. In this session we go over some of the more prominent configurations.

    LTI Integration

To embed Leganto reading lists in the University's LMS (or Learning Management System), the University must set up Leganto LTI Integration. Configurations must be made in both Alma and the LMS.

Reading List Migration - Citations Spreadsheet

Institutions migrating to Leganto from a different Reading List solution, can migrate their reading lists from their legacy system into Alma and Leganto. To do this, the institution must provide Ex Libris with a spreadsheet listing all of their citations, and the Implementor at Ex Libris will run the Reading List Migration tool to import all citations. In this session, we will go over the requirements for creating the spreadsheet. This session is not relevant for customers migrating from TALIS, who are covered by a different workflow.

Reading List Migration - Run Import

Once the customer provides Ex Libris with the Spreadsheet, the implementer can run the Reading List Migration Tool to migrate the citations to Alma and Leganto. This process is described in the Alma and Primo Internal Tools Document, under Reading List Migration Tool.

Reading List Migration - Enrich Citations with Bib Data

After Ex Libris migrates the reading lists into Alma, the final step of reading list migration is to run the process that enriches the citations with data from the Bib records in Alma. This can be done by either Ex Libris or the institution. Enrichment is done in two steps: first configure the matching criteria, which is the ID that Alma uses to match citations to their bib records. Then run the enrichment process.

    Migrating Talis Aspire to Leganto

Migration of reading lists from Talis Aspire to Leganto is run by Ex Libris staff, as described in this video.

    Role Assignment of Instructors

When course instructors log into Leganto, we must ensure their user in Alma has the Instructor role so that they can create and edit reading lists. This can be configured automatically, by fetching the role from the Course Management System upon login to Leganto.

Course Rollover in Bulk via Course Loader

Leganto course rollover enables an institution to use existing courses and their associated reading lists for the next semester or academic year. During the rollover, existing readings lists are copied and become the new reading lists that are assigned to the new courses. Course rollover can be performed by the library in bulk.

    Course Rollover by the Instructor

Course instructors can manually roll-over their reading lists from old courses to new. This can be done either when beginning the course in the LMS, or when already working in Leganto. This functionality must be enabled by the library in Alma Configuration.

Copyright - CCC Pay per Use

Leganto and Alma can be integrated with the Copyright Clearance Center (or CCC), allowing the licensing of the materials used in courses. Library staff working in Alma can get a license directly from the CCC, and make these resources available to students in Leganto. This integration uses a pay per use model, meaning that resources only need to be paid for when they are actually used. Payment can be funded by the insitution, or non-funded, in which case the students pay.

    Copyright - DCS Integration

Leganto supports end-to-end integration with CLA's Digital Content Store, allowing copyright management and digital content delivery to students. In this session we will demonstrate this integration from the points of view of library staff, instructors, and students.

    Leganto Analytics for the Library

Alma Analytics can help the library understand how reading lists are being used, in terms of scope, engagement, and resource usage. For a general introduction to Alma Analytics, you can view our Introduction to Analytics session.

    Leganto Analytics for Instructors

Instructors can access analytics for the courses they teach from Leganto. More information can be found in our View Student Usage Reports session.
