How Does Primo Central Index Work?

Based on an architecture that is similar to the one used for Deep Search (see Primo Central Index Architecture), your local Primo installation is configured to search PCI, essentially in the same way that it searches and retrieves data from your local Primo index and database. Primo optimizes searches in the centralized index and provides performance that is very similar to that of searching only in your local Primo index. When records are fetched from PCI, they are compressed to improve response time.
The records from PCI are standard PNX records that are normalized from the many different e-resources harvested by PCI.
