    Configure WorldCat ThirdNode Adaptor to link to Local Worldcat instance

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Primo

    Desired Outcome Goal:
    Configure the WorldCat Adaptor to use local worldcat URL (e.g. summit.worldcat.org) instead of OCLC worldcat URL (e.g. www.worldcat.org)

    Procedure:
    NOTE: This configuration requires ssh access to the Primo FE server(s).

    On the Primo Server:
    1. Configure the WorldCat Adaptor according to instructions on the EL Commons Wiki > http://exlibrisgroup.org/display/PrimoOI/WorldCat+Deep+Search+Adapter

    2. Add the following parameter subsection to the institution WorldCat API section of the thirdnode-config.xml:

    <parameter>
    <key>ResponseConversion</key>
    <val>links,linktorsrc,$$ELink_To_WorldCat$ $Uhttp://summit.worldcat.org/wcpa/oclc/,true;links,linktorsrc,trm:
    recordIdentifier</val>
    </parameter>

    In the Primo Back Office:
    1. In Primo Home > Advanced Configuration > All Mapping Tables> Delivery > GetIt! Link 1 Confirm that the following row exists:
    Remote Search Resource, worldcat, ALL, N,Almagetit_remote, WorldCat ThirdNode API

    2. Save and Deploy.

    3. In Primo Home > Advanced Configuration > All Code Tables >Delivery > GetIT!Tab1, update the label for > default.getit.tab1_worldcat (e.g. "This item in WorldCat")

    4. Save and Deploy.

    Additional Information

    The WorldCat API by default links to www.worldcat.org (OCLC worldcat). It is possible to link to a local WorldCat site by editing the third-node_config.xml file on the Primo server, see Ex Libris Developer's Network article at the following link.
    https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/primo/integrations/search/worldcat

    NOTE: Editing the third-node_config.xml requires ssh access to the Primo FE server(s).
