    Authentication via Alma

Primo VE attempts to log the user in by checking their credentials against the Alma identity service and if the credentials are not valid, Primo VE will try to log the user in using the same credentials through the active LDAP profiles. This option can be used to authenticate both internal and external users, however if the user is marked internal, the user may receive a prompt to change their password stored in the Exlibris Identity Service

    Authentication via LDAP

Primo VE attempts to log the user in by checking their credentials against the Institution's LDAP server using the active LDAP integration profiles. This option relies on the users being marked as 'External' - if an internal user is attempting to authenticate using the LDAP option the attempt will fail.
