NCIP Based Authentication

When the library system is integrated with Rapido for Look Up User (Configuration > General > External Systems > Integration Profiles) using the Rapido/ILS Integration Profile, it is possible to use user records and credentials stored on the ILS user management system for login.

Checking Authenticate User is a prerequisite for the the Rapido/ILS Integration Profile.

When the integration profile is set up , you can enable NcipAuth (Configuration > Discovery > Authentication > User Authentication) as an authentication option.

The SAML, social, LDAP and CAS options also depend on the relevant integration profile being set up, see Authentication.

Configure the Login labels tab to determine which labels to display on the login screen. In the above example, the NcipAuth is the fifth login option; therefore its login labels are also configured fifth.

Note that two texts can be configured to determine the text that appears if the login fails (User permission not granted - {2}) or if it is blocked by the ILS due to a block on the user account (User permission not granted - {1}). The {1} and {2} indications are place holders for filling in the text with text note reported by the ILS. The following elements from the NCIP message are used by the placeholders:

  • {1) - ProblemType
  • {2} - ProblemDetail
  • {3} - ProblemValue
