Summon: Setting Priority Order for Index-Enhanced Direct Linking to Provider Content
- Product: Summon
How can I set the priority order of resource links for Summon results?
This page is part of a larger set of documentation about Index-Enhanced Direct Linking to results in Summon.
The default priority order for direct linking of the resources listed here is random. This means that if your library has rights to more than one resource with a direct link available, one will be chosen at random.
You may set the priority order of resource links for your Summon users using the Summon Administration Console in your library's Client Center profile. In the section called "Resource Link Prioritization," simply drag resources from the Unordered list to the Ordered list to set their priority.
Unless you actively set a priority order for resource links, Summon chooses randomly from any providers in the Unordered list to which you subscribe. Summon never chooses a provider to which you do not subscribe.
Any resources you select for priority linking by dragging them to the Ordered list will rank higher than any others you choose to leave in the Unordered list. In the example below, for example, an article coming from any of the seven ordered resources, including Informit, will be displayed in the Summon results screen before any others that may be available from the resources in the Unordered list.
This is separate from the Database Order option in 360 Link. If an item is available via OpenURL and IEDL, the IEDL link will always take precedence over the OpenURL one.
