ADAM: Different options for full text indexes

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
When using ADAM you have two options to use full text indexes.

    1) You can use index TXT. This index is created using Oracle tools (outside the regular Aleph word indexes). When searching the TXT index, the Aleph parser is not used to process the query but the search is directly performed in Oracle. Therefore some standard Aleph functionalites (e.g. cross sets) can not be used. KB item #21307 describes how to setup TXT-index.

    2) You can expand the content from index TXT to a virtual Aleph-field using expand routine expand_doc_index_from_z403. This field can be used for indexing purposes in Aleph (commonly a word index called WTX is created). Please note that this expand-procedure is not recommendend for large ADAM objects. KB item #16384-39057 describes how to setup the WTX-index.

When using ADAM you may either choose one of the options or use both index options in parallel.
