    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Problem:
Indexing of ADAM objects does not work properly, no results can be found when searching for full text

    Cause
    Server/Oracle setup

    Resolution
Because of the server TWO_TASK configuration, the oracle server seems to be unable to access $TMPDIR in the application server. It must be defined in a partition/device shared by both servers.

Not all the App server must be accessible to the Oracle server. Only the $TMPDIR directory must be accessible. It can be defined on some shared device.

    Example:
You can check the definition of the TMPDIR-variable on the App server:
    >echo $TMPDIR
    /exlibris/aleph/a22_2/tmp

In this example on the DB server the UNIX user "oracle" must be able to access files in directory /exlibris/aleph/a22_2/tmp on App server.
