AIK: pc_exe (in a21 tree) missing files; "failed to install service pack"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
    * The GUI has been installed as part of the AIK (Aleph Installation Kit), but the server a-tree (a21_1/aleph/pc_exe) lacks an sp_conf directory and the sp_exe has no files in it.

    * The ./ikit_menu, step 5 shows the following:

    OK 1. Extract Aleph Base
    OK 2. Aleph software configuration
    OK 3. Update license
    * 4. Install Service Pack [not "OK"]
    OK 5. Relocate alephe directory
OK 6. Update auto startup/shutdown script

and the following appears in the /exlibris/ftp_from_exlibris/AIK21/log/aleph_installation_kit.log:

    ./sp.tar
    ./sp.install
    sp.bin.SunOS-sparc.tar
Error: failed to install the service pack
    Wed Feb 27 12:57:36 EST 2013 Step ikit_5_4 [ Failed ]
    Wed Feb 27 12:59:01 EST 2013 Step ikit_5_4
    Service pack installation

    ./sp.tar
    ./sp.install
    sp.bin.SunOS-sparc.tar
Error: failed to install the service pack
    Wed Feb 27 12:59:12 EST 2013 Step ikit_5_4 [ Failed ]
    Wed Feb 27 13:02:54 EST 2013 Step ikit_5_5

    Cause:
    Uncertain.

    Resolution:
    1. cd /exlibris/aleph/a21_1/aleph/pc_exe/sp_exe/

    2. do mkdir to create each of the following sub-directories in sp_exe:

acq alephadm alephcom catalog circ ill offcirc

    3. do mkdir to create a bin subdirectory in each of the above

    4. cd /exlibris/aleph/a21_1/aleph/pc_exe/

    5. mkdir sp_conf

At this point the system will be in the expected state for application of the Service Pack.

Then do util_sp and apply the current Service Pack.
