    Description:
In AIK step 2_8 the system startup/shutdown scripts are added or updated.

The files in /etc already existed on my server, as they were copied over by the sys admin from the test server.
The documentation says that if the startup mechanism already exists, AIK only updates files in the
    /exlibris/startup directory.

The scripts in /exlibris/startup do not already exist on the server. The AIK did not create them, although it did create /exlibris/startup directory in the previous step.

I will copy them over from my test system. But it should have created these files if they did not exist, shouldn't it?

    Resolution:
This stem is only creating the linking in the system files.

The system script /etc/rc.d/init.d/exlibris already exist in the server
The system link /etc/rc0.d/K10exlibris already exist in the server
The system link /etc/rc6.d/K10exlibris already exist in the server
The system link /etc/rc3.d/S96exlibris already exist in the server
The system link /etc/rc5.d/S96exlibris already exist in the server

The scripts under /exlibris/startup created in step 5 – 6 “Update auto startup/shutdown script”

There is a later step that handles putting in the actual scripts; the idea here is to finish with the steps that need root permissions.
