Backup Package: hot backup doesn't flush online redo log to archive

Description:
We've discovered a problem with the current Ex Libris Backup Package that has to do with recovery from hot backups.
As written, the hot backup routine does not flush the online redo log to archive upon completion. As a result, upon recovery, the 'recover database' command will expect the online redo log to be available. This is not guaranteed in all recovery scenarios.
We've made a change so that at the completion of the backup, 'alter system archive log current' is executed. This flushes the online redo log to an archived redo log, which will be backed up along with rman backup data files by normal system backup utilities. Recovery can then use 'restore database until sequence n' and 'recover database until sequence n', where n is the last archived sequence (after the backup
completed) and no online redo logs will be needed.
If online redo logs are available, 'restore database' and 'recover database' without the until clause will work fine.

Resolution:
[From Ex Libris:] We think this is a nice addition to the backup package and hope to include it in the next release.
